The brief
A poultry client needed to freeze and hold its own stock on site instead of selling everything immediately or relying on outside storage.
What we did
We installed an insulated-panel cold room with a two-fan evaporator inside and a condensing unit outside, set on a raised concrete plinth under a shelter to protect it from rain and direct sun. A microcomputer control cabinet manages the temperature and automatic defrost cycles, set to −18 °C, the standard for frozen poultry, and adjustable to suit the product. The electrical control panel includes contactors, an overload relay and a phase-failure relay to protect the compressor.
The result
The client can now store 2,000 chickens in the cold room, giving them more control over when they sell.
